With 6 or more weeks of school holidays to fill, parents are thinking about how to keep the kids occupied this summer.  Our holiday forest schools are just the ticket for kids who want freedom and adventure, without the restrictions of a structured timetable.  Our qualified practitioners are on hand to make sure everyone is safe and having a great time.

Places are already booking up on our busy timeable of programmes in Bingley, Ilkley, Saltaire and York for 5-11 years, plus one programme for 9-14 year olds too.  Check out our website for details and booking.

Congratulations to pupils from Steeton and Oakworth Primary who were the winners and runners up in our Lost Words competition last year.  After donating 40 copies of the Robert Macfarlane book to schools in Bradford, we invited the Keighley schools to submit poems or pictures inspired by the book, which seeks to keep nature words in children's vocabulary.

Poppy Chapman's stunning poem about a Goldfinch and Tyler Smith's cute painting of a hedgehog won them a forest school session for their whole class.  Both groups enjoyed getting out more with us this May.  Well done, everyone.

You wait ages for an award then two come along at once!  We are delighted to be runner-up in the Community Organisation of the Year category of Keighley Community Awards.  Then we won Social Enterprise of the Year in the Keighley and Airedale Business Awards this month. Get Out More works across West Yorkshire but is based in Keighley and runs many projects here including the All for Play programme funded by Keighley Big Local.  These awards recognise our work in communities and we are very grateful for the ongoing support of the Big Local partnership to help us continue this impactful work.

The Better Start Bradford Forest School Play Project is one year old, so we're celebrating with all the families who have taken part so far with parties in the park on Friday 12 July. Get Out More and Groundwork will be at Bradford Moor Park in the morning and Bowling Park in the afternoon, with fun, games and of course cake! 

All the children who have completed a forest school programme with us received a free goody bag of outdoor kit.  We're holding a competition to find out how children are making use of their bag and are looking forward to some imaginative entries. 

This will be our third summer of activities in Keighley as part of our All for Play programme, funded by Keighley Big Local.  This summer looks to be better than ever with a full programme of free forest schools, trip and play events for children and families from the Big Local area.  This year we'll be teaming up with wild cooks and foragers for a food themed programme to ensure everyone has a very healthy and happy holiday.
